Vandalism in Kilcullen last night

It's a sad reflection on our town and its residents when the good of many is undone by a very small minority, writes Ray Kelly, chairman of Kilcullen Community Action.

Last night, some of the planting done by Kilcullen Tidy Towns outside the Bank of Ireland was just dumped out on the main street. Good thing is that there is video evidence.

This issue is one of a number of minor acts of vandalism happening in our town … maybe we all need to be a bit more proactive in reporting these acts to the gardaí. The Garda cannot act unless they know of the issues. At the time of our Public Reps Meeting last year I spoke with our two local gardai and they indicated they do not get notified of the minor issues.

Along with this and the removal of the sun/cloud mural it would appear we have a vandal or two active.

Since November I have notified the following vandal type activity with the Garda: damage to Soccer Club training area electrical switch box, cost to club €200+; vulgar graffiti on signage for KCCEC; graffiti on wall alongside Town Hall. And these are only the ones of which I am aware.

I'll add last night's activity plus the mural removal to their list.
